Ahead of Wednesday’s vote to decide the next Taoiseach of the country, Labour Youth is opposing the re-election of Fine Gael leader Enda Kenny.
National Chairperson of Labour Youth, Grace Williams commented, “Labour has received a very clear message from the people in this election. Going into the election campaign, the Labour Party sought re-election with Fine Gael to government. This was quite overwhelmingly rejected.
“We, as a party, must listen to the public, who do not support the outgoing coalition, and to Labour Party members, who have been very vocal on this issue. Labour Youth believes that listening to these views is essential to the rebuilding of our party.
“Labour Youth activists would welcome an abstention by Labour Party TDs in tomorrow’s vote.”
