National Youth Executive



The National Youth Executive (NYE) is responsible for the day to day running of Labour Youth. Officers are elected to the NYE at Youth Conference, held every Autumn. The current National Youth Executive was elected for a one year term at Labour Youth National Conference in November 2017 in Portlaoise.

Chloe Manahan – Dublin Bay South
Chloe has overall responsibility for the development and management of Labour Youth. She speaks on behalf of the organisation and its members.  She is the Labour Youth representative on the Labour Party Executive Board.

Patrick Ahern – Cork East
Patrick is responsible for Labour Youth correspondence and the minutes of NYE and other Labour Youth meetings. He is also responsible for fundraising and the management of accounts.

Campaigns and Communications Officer   

Claire O’Connor – Kildare North
Claire is responsible for the planning, organising and execution of Labour Youth’s national and regional campaigns. She oversees the communication of Labour Youth’s policies and ideals, through our website, social media platforms and Left Tribune magazine.

James Joy – Cork South Central
James is responsible for Labour Youth training, policy and development. He is the Director of all Labour Youth organised seminars, including the annual Tom Johnson Summer School.

Women’s and Trans Officer
Hazel Gavigan – Longford/Westmeath
Hazel is responsible for the recruiting, organising and empowering young Labour women activists. She develops feminist policy and represents Labour Youth externally in other women’s groups.

Sarah Dunne – Tipperary
Sarah is the primary representative for Labour Youth to both the Young European Socialists (YES) Bureau and to the International Union of Socialist Youth (IUSY).

Luke has primary responsibility for the planning, organising and execution of recruitment campaigns, for membership retention and for the training of Labour Youth activists.

The Labour Party Youth & Development Officer is an non-voting member of the NYE. Caroline  is based in Labour Party Head Office and assists the development of Labour Youth nationally.
